For the month of April, ZenPop offers an extremely pretty snack box called "Hanami Party" or translates to "flower-viewing party." The season of cherry blossom makes flower-viewing a thing to do in Japan, and I am ready to enjoy this snack box outside in my garden as well!

What I love about ZenPop Japanese Ramen + Sweets Mix Pack is the variety of ramen and snacks I get! There are too many types of snacks and cup noodle out there and sometimes I just don't want to hand-pick them myself. (Physically at a market or online shop) By getting a ZenPop mix pack, I get a cute box sent to my doorstep and it often brings great surprises!

Esian Snack Box by Esian Mall

Esian Box is a snack box by Esian Mall, who is a monthly subscription box service that offers snacks, beauty products, and unique items for gamer, geek, anime, or movie fans. From this box, I got an umbrella with design of Harley Quinn (a fictional character from Batman) on it. Other than Japanese snack, there's also a South Korean instant noodle pack, some Chinese bean curd snacks and seaweed soup. I feel like this snack box is guiding me to try variety of things!

And how do they know if you are getting something you might like? Each snack box is customized based on the type of flavor and snack you prefer, as well as the type of entertainment you enjoy the most: comic, movie, anime, cartoon, Disney, etc...

JAPAN YUM BOX FEBRUARY 2016 REVIEW

JAPAN YUM BOX FEBRUARY 2016
Last week, I received Japan Yum's February snack box. Japan Yum is a Japanese snack subscription company. Since they work directly with Japanese candy suppliers and store their candies in a US facility, as a result subscribers can receive a great selection of snacks easier and quicker.

Their box is petite and light, but the selection of candies are just the ones that I like. Let's check out what kind of snack they offer in February! :)

SNAKKU BOX JANUARY 2016 REVIEW

SNAKKU BOX JANUARY 2016
For the new year, Snakku introduces a set of snacks made by a popular Japanese snack company called Chidoriya 千鳥屋. The company was established since 1630 at Nagasaki, which was the port-city where western goods were available at the time. Influenced by the baked cakes and sweets from the Portuguese, Chidoriya was one of the first snack stores that sell western snacks made with sugar. (Sugar was rare in Japan at that time)

Tirolian チロリアン Roll Cookies with Coffee flavored cream filling
My favorite is the Tirolian Roll Cookie, which according to Snakku these roll cookies have been using the same recipes and making methods since Chidoriya opened in 1630. Other than the roll cookies, the rest of the Tirolian snacks are also very yummy too! Let's check out each and see how they taste?

JAPAN CANDY BOX NOVEMBER 2015 SUBSCRIPTION BOX REVIEW

Japan Candy Box
Japan Candy Box is a Japanese candy subscription service who will select around 8-10 hand-picked quirky Japanese sweets & snacks for your candy box. It has a nice variety of popular Japanese candies that I remember having when I used to live in Asia. The proportion is just right to try out each snack. It doesn't make me feel "too filling" when having these smaller packages of candies and caramel corn puffs.

FREEDOM JAPANESE MARKET NOVEMBER 2015 SUBSCRIPTION BOX REVIEW

Original Subscription Pack
Origami of the Month
For this review, it is going to be about the November 2015 "Original Subscription Pack" by Freedom Japanese Market.

After opening my snack box, I am delighted to see an adorable origami. I really appreciate these kind of small things. Actually folding origami for each subscription box can be very time consuming, this is something that I love to see when it comes to details.

I am also very surprised that I actually never seen many of these snacks before. Usually, I am familiar with half of the snack box! Especially this "pipe choco" that I am holding, (photo below) I can almost imagine a kid holding it and role-playing with it while enjoying the mini chocolate balls. It makes you feel like childhood.

SNAKKU BOX OCTOBER 2015 REVIEW

October Snakku Box - Hokkaido themed snacks
What a traditional and cute packaging for snack bento!
Snakku is a Japanese snack subscription service founded by Shigeki-san, who was born in Tokyo and values authentic Japanese snacks made by actual snack makers in Japan. When I first received my Snakku box, it leaves a deep impression from the way Snakku packages their snack box with a "furoshiki", a piece of traditional Japanese wrapping cloth for bento (picnic box), gifts, grocery goods, etc.

JAPAN CRATE PREMIUM OCTOBER 2015 REVIEW

JAPAN CRATE PREMIUM OCTOBER 2015
This is the first time I've ever received a Japanese snack subscription box. It feels like Christmas already just to receive a box full of goodies! Japan Crate includes all kinds of snacks: savory ones like chips, sweet ones like candies and DIY snacks, sour gummy candies, crispy corn snacks, etc! For Premium box, they even include a Japanese drink.

Bireley's Orange Drink - a discontinued drink from 1920 California and
is still available in Japan made by Asahi drink manufacture
Meiji - Poifull - Assorted Soda Jelly Beans
My favorite snack is a jelly bean by Meiji. I used to have it a lot when I was young in Hong Kong, where Japanese snacks are widely available. After moving to the America, this is one of the few times that I get to try this candy for a long time. The texture of this candy is hardened only for the outer layer. Once you eat it, the outer layer will soften and blend with the rest of the candy. It is sweet, but not overly sweetened like many American candies. (American food doesn't go easy on sugar!)

SKOSHBOX OCTOBER 2015 REVIEW

SKOSHBOX - The Original Skoshbox
SKOSHBOX - Dekabox
Skoshbox is a Japanese snack subscription service that delivers a monthly box of Japanese candies and snacks from their selection of assorted snacks that will definitely surprise you each month.
