Black Sesame Oil & Red Spicy Tantanmen at JTAN, Tokyo JAPAN

Red Spicy Tantanmen  900 yen

Black Sesame Oil Tantanmen 850 yen
Although the chashu (roasted pork slices) are tough, both black & red tantanmens were good overall. They are still better than most ramen I've had in the States, but not better than Oakland's Ramen Shop's Spicy Tantanmen.

The story was that I was purely looking for dinner near the residential area of Soshigaya Okura station. Without knowing where to go, I irresistibly got into a Tantanmen shop that just grand opened recently. Once inside the shop, vending machine is on the right side. Only three choices are available on the menu: Black (Black Sesame Oil), Red (Spicy), and "Japanese-styled" Tantanmen.

Quick fact: In Japan, Chinese-influenced dishes like Ramen, Tantanmen, and Gyoza are all considered Chinese food.

    1. Same here, not a fan for spicy food. But I love to at least try very very little to just know how it tastes like.
