I bought a package of green tea powder a few days ago, and decided to make a homemade Matcha today. The result is absolutely great!! It is great to enjoy with meal and snacks. It is refreshing with ice, and the honey makes it even better. I can happy that I made it in a big pitcher!
NOTE: For green tea powder, don't use VERY hot water. Use water that is around 70°C(158°F) - 80°C(176°F). I just mix around 3/4 of hot water with 1/4 of cold water.
INGREDIENTS:
3 scoops of Green Tea Powder
(the scoop is included in the box, one scoop = ~1/2 teaspoon)
3/4 cup of Hot water
2 + 1/4 cups of cold water
2-5 tablespoons of honey
Ice Cubes
Tools
Measuring Cup/bowl
Spoon
Pitcher
INSTRUCTION:
1. In a 2-cup measuring cup (or any cup/pitcher/bowl), add 3 scoops of green tea powder and honey. Honey is the only sweetener in this recipe, so you can add a little bit more than usual. I really like honey, so I add around 3-4 tablespoons. Why not add honey in the end? Because this is a cold drink, adding honey in the end, it will not mix that well.
2. Add 3/4 cup of hot water + 1/4 cup cold water in a cup.
3. Add the mixture of water into the green tea powder + honey cup.
4. Mix it with a spoon until you don't see any more powder.
5. Transfer it into a larger pitcher. (The green color looks like photo below)
6. Add 1-2 more cups of cold water into mixture. Mix well.
7. Add ice cubes in a glass cup.
8. Pour the Matcha in the glass cup with ice cubes.
Matcha is also a very healthy drink because it:
- Is packed with antioxidants including the powerful EGCg
- Boosts metabolism and burns calories
- Detoxifies effectively and naturally
- Calms the mind and relaxes the body
- Is rich in fiber, chlorophyll and vitamins
- Enhances mood and aids in concentration
- Provides vitamin C, selenium, chromium, zinc and magnesium
- Prevents disease
- Lowers cholesterol and blood sugar
